Barbara Stanwyick, Signed to Barbara Stanwyck
[Presentation Copy; Signed to Barbara Stanwyck] DiOrio, Al. Barbara Stanwyck, A Biography. Second Printing. 1983. Book and dust jacket are both in very good minus condition—jacket shows a small tear to the front cover. In the book, there is a full-page inscription by the author addressed to Stanwyck, in which he expresses his admiration. Laid in is a two-page signed letter also to Stanwyck from the author in which he apologizes for what he knows she considers to be an invasion of her privacy.
It is clear from the author’s letter that the great Golden Age actress did not cooperate with her biographer. What is fascinating is that he had so much respect for his subject that he did not hold it against her, going so far as to send her an inscribed copy. Stanwyck’s copy of a book about Stanwyck: what marvelous association.
