Vogue, “Snow Skiing Issue” December 15, 1937
Vogue, “Snow Skiing Issue” December 15, 1937. Softcover periodical in very good condition—front cover shows minor wear and back cover shows moderate abrasion.
This vintage Vogue with a snow skier on the cover would be the perfect accent to a coffee table in in vacation home adjacent to a ski resort. In addition to the cover, there is an illustrated article inside the magazine about ski slope fashion. It suggests that the perfect après-ski attire would be “a fluffy, copper-coloured angora sweater” teamed with “grey flannel slacks” and accented with a “strings of gold-plated jingle-bells.” The back cover features a Lucky Strikes advertisement in which the actress Joan Crawford plays “Mrs. Claus” by handing out cartoons of cigarettes as holiday gifts (presumably not to children, but with Crawford, one never knows).
