Brown, Paul. Croquet, Rules and Strategy for Home Play. First Edition. 1957. Book is in very good minus condition—dust jacket is in good plus condition—jacket shows mild discoloration and small edge tears.
Paul Brown was one of the leading equestrian and sports illustrators of the mid-20th Century. On that reputation, he decided to produce a book on a sport he loved and played frequently—croquet. He points out that it is one of the few athletic endeavors in which men and women are on equal footing. Moreover, it is somewhat akin to chess or checkers in that proper strategy involves planning out plays far in advance of their execution. Book includes frequent and colorful illustration (in the same style as that found on the jacket cover).
