[Signed] Lord Snowdon. A Photographic Autobiography. First American Edition. 1979. Book is in very good condition; dust jacket is in good plus condition—an “autographed copy” sticker is adhered to the front cover of the jacket; and jacket shows a minor tear and rubbing. Book is signed “Snowdon” on the flyleaf.
Lord Snowdon does not go out of his way to put his subjects at ease; instead, he prefers there to be long silences that create an edge. He explains that, after all, “taking photographs is a very nasty thing to do. It’s very cruel.” If that is the case, Snowdon has been practicing cruelty for an astonishing seven decades now. This was the first retrospective of his work, which presents his photographs along with information about what transpired behind the scenes. Includes color and b & w reproductions of his work from the 1950s to the 1970s.
