Loan, Charles E. Van. Old Man Curry, Stories of the Race Track. First Edition. 1917. Book and dust jacket are in very good condition—some darkening to spine. Introduction by L.B. Yates.
The “Old Man” Curry to whom this title refers is a horse-racing purist. Love of horses and the sport of racing are his primary motivators, with betting coming in a distant second place. He is also the connecting character in this critically acclaimed collection of short stories, which are all about the sport. Nearly a century old, the book is one of the early examples of dust jacket illustration, and a marvelous example it is. This copy has held up remarkably well for a book of its age.
