Barnes, James M. A Guide to Good Golf. Fifth Printing. 1925. Book is in very good condition; dust jacket is in good plus condition—jacket shows minor fraying and a few tears & minor discoloration to the back cover.
Jim Barnes, an early Twentieth Century golfer who won the U.S. and British Opens and the P.G.A. twice, wrote this smart-looking guide to golf. He states there is no “royal road” to ability and emphasizes patience, practice, and attention to form. Of form, he writes that a player must get a “correct mental pattern of the swing,” and from there, “it is merely a matter of shortening or lengthening the pattern as the case may be.” Includes frequent illustration.
