Amory, Mark (ed.). The Letters of Ann Fleming. First Edition. 1985. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition—jacket shows minor creasing.
The world remembers her as the wife Ian Fleming, the man who created James Bond and spawned a multi-billion dollar film franchise. However, to those fortunate to have received her friendship and hospitality, Ann Fleming was known as a great wit and hostess. Her cool is apparently infinite. In regard to terminal illness, she writes, “I have laryngitis and cancer—no voice to complain!” The book is already uncommon—there was no American edition.
“Nancy Lancaster to Diana Cooper at the Phipps ball: ‘You’re so remarkable, when you die you will get stuffed’; Diana C. to me: ‘I don’t think Nancy knows what getting stuffed means.’”
--Ann Fleming, Letter to Michael Astor
