The title is apt. This is a book about Andy Warhol as a serious artist, not as the impresario of popular culture, which is more or less the theme of another Warhol book in this catalogue, Andy Warhol’s Exposures. The author witnessed for himself the distinct differences between the public and private versions of Andy Warhol. He used that perspective when conducting over one hundred extensive interviews with Warhol friends, art dealers, and associates, which are excerpted in this book.
