Bemelmans, On Board Noah’s Ark
Bemelmans, Ludwig. On Board Noah’s Ark. First Edition. 1962. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition. Previous owner's name is discreetly written on the half title page, and the jacket is price-clipped.
This comedic tale is an epic of Titanic proportions—minus the iceberg. When Bemelmans discovers that the home he rented on the Riviera abuts a noisy and crowded public access beach, he impulsively buys a yacht and takes to the sea. This is an account of his adventures cruising the Mediterranean with a second-rate captain and crew that could not find jobs elsewhere (it was high season, and the good ones had already been hired away). The book includes illustration by Bemelmans, both in color and black & white.
“If a man loves a boat, the boat becomes sort of his wife.”
--Ludwig Bemelmans
