[Signed] Lane, Kenneth Jay. Faking It. First Edition. 1996. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition. Book signed “Kenneth Jay Lane” to a bookplate attached to the flyleaf. ISBN: 0-8109-3579-1.
Kenneth Jay Lane does not see himself as an iconoclast, but he was. He made costume jewelry as acceptable as the real thing. This was the first of three image-filled monographs on his career. The book is illustrated in full color with images of both the pieces themselves and those wore them, with frequent commentary by Lane. Though his jewelry might not be priceless, his stories are. In one anecdote, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis permits him to copy a valuable necklace given to her by Aristotle Onassis. She was highly amused when she would see it appear on episodes of Dynasty and told him so. With 147 illustrations; including 88 plates in full color.
