Cocoanut Grove, Hollywood
[Signed] Burke, Margaret Tante. Are the Stars Out Tonight? The Story of the Famous Ambassador and Cocoanut Grove, “Hollywood’s Hotel.” First Edition. 1980. Hardcover in gilded covers with green embossed decorations and titles in very good condition. It is inscribed on the title page, “Worldwide Facilities, Inc.! How our stars do get around. Thanks for including us. Margaret Tante Burke, 2/21/81.” Introduction by Adela St. Rogers.
This is a scrapbook-style book about Los Angeles’s famous Ambassador Hotel and its even more legendary club, which was brought back into the limelight several years ago in a spectacular scene in the Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator. There are just as many illustrations as pages of text—mostly depicting the glamorous people and events that occurred there. The text is magazine style—a series of standalone articles.
