David Hicks on Living with Design
Hicks, David. Living with Design. First Edition. 1979. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition.
This design book, Hicks’s seventh, is also his most personal. He includes intimate photographs and reminisces, incorporating them into his overall design aesthetic. Also, his country home, Britwell House in Oxfordshire, is one of the featured projects. It and others are depicted in elaborate detail, which classifies as case studies. Subjects run the gamut, with sections on carpets & fabrics, offices, doors & screens, lamps & lighting, staircases, and much more. Includes hundreds of illustrations, many in color.
“I believe that the real reason for my lasting success is that I have always avoided using gimmicks. I have always been very disciplined and I have never used anything new, strange or revolutionary without very careful consideration.”
--David Hicks
