Beaton in Vogue
Ross, Josephine. Beaton in Vogue. First American Edition. 1986. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition.
Arranged by subject rather than year, this excellent monograph spans the many decades Beaton spent working for American, British, and French Vogues. With dozens of color plates, the book contains the photographs and drawings that epitomized midcentury glamour and also sold millions of magazines over the course of half a century. To great effect, the book includes excerpts from Beaton's insightful and witty reporting that frequently accompanied his work.
“There is a relationship between form and content (which is why I personally disapprove of plastic surgery). We are what we look like.”
