[Signed] Sibley, Celestine. Christmas in Georgia. First Edition. 1964. Book is in very good condition; dust jacket is in very good minus condition—jacket shows mild soiling to the back cover and some discoloration to the flaps. The jacket is price clipped. When this book was published, its author was about halfway through her extraordinary fifty-eight year tenure as a columnist for the Atlanta Constitution. Her subject was most frequently Southern culture, in which she was a well-known expert. This book, a collection of five short stories celebrating Christmas in the Peach State, was a departure for her only in that the stories were fictional. The mise-en-scène, however, was very much familiar territory.
“Everything about Christmas is done in remembrance of our Lord. Each little thing is supposed to be an act of worship and you must not have anger or hatred in your heart when you get ready for Christmas.”
