Rhea, Mini. I Was Jacqueline Kennedy’s Dressmaker. First Edition. 1962. Book is in very good condition; dust jacket is in very good minus condition—jacket shows minor fraying.
There is not even a hint of scandal in this appealing memoir from Mini Rhea, the dressmaker to not only Jacqueline Kennedy but also her mother Janet Auchincloss and many other Washington grand dames. It is mostly a recollection of the decade-plus collaboration between Rhea and Kennedy that began when Jackie was still the inquiring photographer for the Washington Times-Herald. Even then, however, Jacqueline had definite ideas about style and fashion, which Rhea interestingly communicates in this book. Includes b & w illustration.
“Some people are fashion followers. Jackie was never intimidated into wearing what others were wearing. Some sixth sense told her where fashion’s trend was leading.”
