Always Room at the Top, Signed by Ganna Walska
[Signed] Walska, Ganna. Always Room at the Top. First Edition. 1943. Book is in very good minus condition; dust jacket is in very good condition. Book is inscribed, “To Joseph Edelman, with blessings, Ganna Walska.”
In this uncommon book, Ganna Walska writes, “Man is born into bondage and given a life in which to find his way out.” Fortunately for her, she had an iron will to loosen the chains. She married not just one but four wealthy husbands and conquered lack of talent to become a working opera singer. She had only recently discovered California at the time of this midlife autobiography, but it, not the stage, would be her path to immortality—via the incredible botanical gardens she created at her Montecito Estate, Lotusland (still thriving many years after her passing).
“Napoleon’s power consisted in his lack of sensitivity, whereas I am full of it down to my smallest nerve and tiniest muscle.”
