[Signed Presentation to Dominick Dunne] Keith, Slim. Slim, Memories of a Rich and Imperfect Life. First Edition. 1990. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition. Book is inscribed by the book’s co-author Annette Tapert, “For Dominick, The godfather, guru, and all-time chronicler of rich & imperfect lives. All my love, Annette.” On that same page is a stamp indicating the book is from the estate of Dominick Dunne.
What was lost in the coverage of Lauren Bacall’s death last year is that the look that propelled Bacall to stardom was copied from the original California “It Girl” Slim Keith (then Slim Hawkes). This book is her memoir, and this story would have made excellent material for Dunne to fictionalize—if only Slim or Truman or someone had done away with Pam Churchill . . .
“New York is too small a town to let you avoid anybody.”
