[Signed Presentation to Monroe Wheeler] Beaton, Cecil. Chinese Diary and Album. First Edition. 1945. Book and dust jacket are both in very good minus condition—jacket shows light fraying, minor edge tears, a repaired tear to the lower spine, and a small chip to the upper spine. Book is inscribed on the flyleaf, “To Monroe, with best love from Cecil, 1946.”
This book is a collection of photographs Beaton took during World War II when he was working for the British Ministry of Information. Beaton’s Far East is the companion book to this volume—the narrative version of the story. This is its visual counterpart, containing mostly full-page b & w photographic plates.
