Specifically, Olivia encouraged Joan to return to the Episcopal faith with which they were raised. Olivia reports that Joan took her up on it, joining Saint Thomas Church in New York. Given Joan's rebellious nature and her mistrust of the elder sister she found to be sanctimonious, one wonders if Olivia's advice "to find God" went over as well as Olivia supposes.
