Tina Brown, January 16, 1991, Vanity Fair Diaries
Diller was then Chairman of 20th Century Fox working for Rupert Murdoch (who was also among the guests that night). A recurring theme in Tina Brown's diaries was Diller's attempts to convince Brown to make movies for his studio. She never took the bait but later went to work for him as founder and editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast.
Barry Diller and Diane von Furstenberg had an on-again/off-again relationship since their Studio 54 days with Andy Warhol in the 1970s. They finally married in 2001.
