Dorothy Parker and her husband Alan Campbell remained longer than that. They established a household in the Norma Triangle section of West Hollywood (a five-minute walk down the hill from the location of Nick Harvill Libraries today). It was at this residence on June 14, 1963 that Campbell took a fatal overdose of barbiturates, which the coroner labeled a probable suicide. When a thoughtful neighbor asked the grieving widow if there was anything she could for her, Dorothy quipped, "Get me a new husband." Even her messes were no match for Parker's sardonic humor.
